Expressive Arts Therapy
Course Content
Expressive Arts Therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses artistic creation as a medium to achieve therapeutic goals.
We believe that everyone has an innate sense of creativity. No prior art experience is needed — art can be a way to express oneself freely and authentically.
Through the creative process, individuals are encouraged to explore their inner world and interpersonal relationships, while also deepening their understanding of personal growth and needs.
This helps build self-awareness, unlock potential, develop problem-solving abilities, and prepare for future challenges, leading to lasting change.
Five Treatment
Approaches
How It Works?
The therapist works alongside each individual, offering guidance and support while setting treatment goals and designing a plan based on their specific needs. Clients are encouraged to explore and try different art forms, allowing therapy to be delivered in the way that suits them best. This process helps increase self-awareness and sensitivity, opening up new ways of thinking and encouraging individuals to view their current situation, challenges, and concerns from different perspectives.

Advantages
Expressive Arts Therapy is an integrative therapeutic approach that combines expressive arts and psychotherapy, using multiple art forms as tools for healing and personal growth. Originating in Europe and North America, it has gained increasing recognition in Hong Kong in recent years.
According to the International Expressive Arts Therapy Association, it draws on a range of creative media, including visual arts, movement, drama, music, writing, and other creative activities to support individual and community development.
Purpose
Art provides a free and relaxed space for individuals to express inner feelings, thoughts, and experiences that may be difficult to put into words. Through different creative activities, it helps people explore personal issues, build self-confidence, and deepen self-understanding.
Target Group
Expressive Arts Therapy is suitable for people of all ages, from toddlers and children to teenagers, adults, and older adults. It can also support individuals with special educational needs, cancer, trauma-related difficulties, or dementia.
