School-Age Children’s
Autism Assessment

Purpose

To provide children with a comprehensive, standardised assessment, helping parents better understand their child's abilities and needs so as to select the most suitable treatment or training plan.

Professional advice is also available to help parents support their child's communication, learning engagement, and behavioural and emotional regulation.

6 to 16 years old

Scope of Assessment

To assess the child’s cognitive ability, social communication, emotional regulation, and behavioural control, and to provide consultation and recommendations based on the child’s overall developmental profile.

Assessment Details

The assessment comprises three parts:

1. A pre-assessment interview with parents.

2. Autism-related assessments and/or appropriate behavioural rating scales to screen the child’s overall development, and to determine whether there are any concerns in intellectual development or other areas.

3. Post-assessment parent interview to explain the assessment findings and provide recommendations on follow-up and intervention.

  • The assessment session and explanation of the results, which takes approximately 180 minutes, together with a brief English assessment report.
     

  • This service is provided by a clinical psychologist.
     

  • The assessment report will be completed within 10 working days, and parents will be contacted to come to our centre for a face-to-face explanation of the report.
