Speech Therapy Assessment
Purpose
To provide children with speech assessment services that help parents understand their child's abilities and needs, so they can choose the most suitable treatment or training plan.
The service also offers professional consultation for parents who need support in improving a child's communication, speech and social interaction, and ways to address social and emotional difficulties.
Age
Children aged 2 years and above
Assessment Scope
The assessment evaluates a child's spoken language abilities, including language expression and comprehension, articulation, voice use, fluency, oral-motor control, and social skills. It also provides professional consultation and recommendations based on the child's current language development.
Assessment Details
The assessment is conducted individually, and the speech therapist will use standardised assessment tools according to the child's case, such as:
1. For children aged 2 years 6 months to 5 years: The Hong Kong Test of Preschool Oral Language (Cantonese) (TOPOL).
2. For children aged 5 to 12 years: The Hong Kong Cantonese Oral Language Assessment Scale (HKCOLAS).
3. Clinical observation, followed by a detailed assessment of the child and a thorough explanation of the results with parents afterwards.
Remarks

The full assessment and explanation of results take approximately 1 hour; please enquire with the centre for details of the detailed report.

The speech therapist providing this service is a certified examiner for The Hong Kong Test of Preschool Oral Language (Cantonese) (TOPOL) or The Hong Kong Cantonese Oral Language Assessment Scale (HKCOLAS).
